Length of stay prediction
When used as a pre-admission tool, CRAB can also give a highly accurate picture of the likely length of stay for a particular patient. This allows commissioners and providers alike to manage care and to contract on the basis of the length of stay appropriate for each patient’s care.
COMPASS supplants blanket policies of reducing length of stay which can conflict with clinical need, but nevertheless provides the hard-edge to manage performance according to clinical need - investigation is only needed for patients who fall significantly outside the predictive parameters.
