Choosing the right solution
IT Architecture
CRAB is a Microsoft .Net application that uses a Microsoft SQL 2005 database and makes use of Microsoft Reporting Services for scheduled reports. C-CI maintain CRAB systems for the NHS and have a team of experienced and qualified software engineers. All software is written using up to date Microsoft development systems and is based on good coding practices. The software will work on any Windows 2003 approved servers and installations have been performed on NHS equipment without the need for modification.
Typically, a high availability architecture would be an SQL 2005 cluster with load balanced web servers connected to the hospital intranet. However, as loading is not an issue and if some down-time can be tolerated, a single server may host both SQL2005 and the IIS web server.
