Finely tuned for here and now

CRAB provides a fair, representative system for monitoring and demonstrating the quality of patient care.

Using a pioneering methodology, clinical outcomes are adjusted for the case-mix complexity of every patient treated.

We believe that clinical performance and patient care can be improved by using real-time analysis of local data, identifying risk factors earlier and more accurately and enabling continuous monitoring and improvement.

An innovative solution

CRAB predicts the individualised clinical risk for each patient, based on his or her physiology and treatment prescribed. It also tracks avoidable harm within an organization.

Quality measurement is possible, for both surgical and medical treatment, via a web-based system that uses local coding data. Clinicians are able to review care results that have been attributed to them.

CRAB is being used throughout the world by leading healthcare organisations, including Imperial College Healthcare, and has also provided core information analysis for the Keogh Review into patient safety.

CRAB is currently delivered via four modules each tailored to different areas of healthcare:
Surgery, Medicine, Compass and the Executive dashboard.

The Surgical Module is based on the POSSUM system of surgical audit, in use at hospitals around the world.

Acute medicine

The only system to produce automated tracking of the indicators of avoidable harm.

Pre-admission risk assessment, length of stay prediction and care planning.

Maternity dashboard

Get a true picture of the risk factors that impact the quality of obstetric care in your organisation.

Wilhelmina Ekström, MD, PhD, Senior Consultant, Orthopedic Surgery, Karolinska University Hospital"CRAB predictions have proved accurate in my primary external research validation of the system. I currently don’t know of any other electronic system in use that can deliver this kind of overall and detailed qualitative feedback to the department and the individual surgeon. It has been a great benefit for our clinic and helped develop our work on patient safety."
